How to Have a Safe Kambo Experience

For years I’d been following a method that was taught to me, used when Kambo was applied to me by other practitioners and spoken about by everyone I knew in the Kambo space. It was never questioned, I just assumed this was the way it had to be. In November 2019 I was hosting a Planet Kambo retreat and it was time on the first day for me and my team itsto do our own Kambo treatments. With my entire trusty Frog Squad in one place it seemed the perfect time for an experiment, “let’s try the Sapo method”, I announced. Now fast-forward to 2019 and my first introduction to ‘Sapo’, translated meaning “frog” or “toad” in Spanish. After a ceremony, one afternoon, a member of the Planet Kambo team told me she had heard of a different way to use Kambo.

Allow yourself to integrate and give yourself a day off on the day of the treatment. This is done in a general area and not targeting any specific region of the body or mind. This is said to allow the Kambo to flow naturally where it needs to go. On a first treatment we use what is called an EVALUATION POINT – to determine someone’s tolerance and other critical information which the practitioner can find valuable. Over the coming weeks and months, I embarked on an exploration with Kambo; experimenting with split testing and analysing until a new practice emerged. This is the method I use on myself, clients and it’s what I teach on the Planet Kambo Practitioners Course. In my opinion, it’s the fastest, safest and most comfortable way to receive Kambo.

While most practitioners administer large doses that are intensely felt, I take a gentle approach—think, a kambo microdose. You’ll receive enough medicine to notice a positive change in your energy immediately, without making you feel overwhelmed. Read more about Kambo here. If you’ve been feeling sluggish, disregulated, or all-around stuck, it’s time for a reset.

She came to me wanting to know if it was safe to take kambo and whether she would have to tell the practitioner about her past. In conclusion, yoga and kambo can be powerful allies in the pursuit of physical, emotional, and spiritual balance. Whether used separately or in combination, these practices offer a unique and transformative path towards self-discovery and healing. Any cleansing protocols and water fasts, colonics DO NOT GO well with kambo. Please eat well, nourish your body days and weeks prior to the ceremony so your body can sit with the medicine and be strong! Make it a conscious effort to hydrate your body leading up to the ceremony. Especially in Bali / Uluwatu area, people are easily dehydrated.

Ask your prospective facilitator how they would handle an emergency, and how they screen out unsuitable participants. A facilitator without a screening process or an emergency procedure may not be trustworthy. There is a slight risk of allergic reaction, so facilitators should apply a test dot first, and have an epipen ready. Other risk factors are Addison’s disease, epilepsy, or a weak immune system. People on immuno-suppressants, or any medications that heavily strain the liver, should avoid kambo.
